You can always watch a movie while painting the kitchen This has occurred to me, but considering where the kitchen is and where the tv is, I fear permanent spinal injury from craning my neck. Meghan, as I remember back in the day, (read: opens giant unused vault of her brain and lets moths out,) we all had crushes on Robert Redford. I have a clear memory of swooning through the movie The Sting with a bunch of girlfriends. Actually, I can't really remember what the movie was about anymore, but I remember the swooning

Laine and I watched 'Changeling' (directed by Clint Eastwood) last night. I was surprised at how much I liked it. there is hardly a happy or cheerful part in the movie, but despite that it is well worth watching. Has anyone else seen it?

OH! Wow Robin. As soon as I get done on the internet, I"m going to watch that movie. My roommate is borrowing it for a little bit, so I thought I might as well as long as I have free access to it.

So, as for Changeling, I thought it was excellent. I was surprised at how much more there was to the story than the trailer let on.

Sara mentioned "Children of Heaven"
Wonderful heart-breaking, heart-mending movie!
The blind boy trying to read the created world: reading the pebbles in a stream as if they were braille; counting the rattling sounds of woodpeckers and reading them like morse code; the light pouring down on the boys hands, or maybe glowing from within.

...just saw "Changeling" with Sarah last night (much to Josh's chagrin) and thought it to be amazing. I wanted to rush home and make sure Justus was tucked in his bed fast asleep right after, but an excellent film none the less.
...and yes, Alex, I'd take Paul Newman over Robert Redford any day! ;D RR is great, don't get me wrong, but Paul definitely had something RR did not.

'The Sting' is an awesome movie! I have to say I'm more of a Robert Redford fan, '3 days of the Condor' etc.
I've been in a Cary Grant mood lately, I like his mix of suave swoon-ability and comedy. Stephen Fry can also mix those two well.

Cary Grant is definitely up there as well...but I'm a Gregory Peck fan...loved him in Roman Holiday...and of course To Kill A Mockingbird.
Hmmm...I think I've mentioned this before???

Oh rose!! Gregory Peck IS Atticus. The scene in the courtroom, where they stand up in the balcony as he passes.. it gets me EVERY TIME!!!

I just watched "Son of Rambow". I recommend it to the guys. It's a movie about 2 little boys that become good friends while they are making their own movie about the son of Rambo trying to rescue his father. Josh, I think it will make you think about Steve.

Ok, Michelle, I just rented it, so I'll give it a go.
I also got Man on Wire, so I'm excited to have some time catch up on a few good pics.

OK- Man on Wire first.
Wow.
I had several verses rattling around in my mind while watching this one:
Matthew 16:25 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it.
Philippians 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
1 John 2:6 Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.
1 Corinthians 2:14 The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
The connections I was making as a follower of Christ went way deep, but I find it hard to communicate without trivializing the experience in some way, or ripping it out of its immediate context with all of if sublime moments and practical tensions.
Anyway, I won't call it a metaphor in the common, degraded meaning of the word because it really happened and it's a story in it's own right. A picture for all of us, rather?

Hey Josh. Glad you caught Man on Wire. That Philippe Petit is definitely on another plain of existence.

Saw Changeling last night. Hard but great movie. John Malkovich makes me proud to be a pastor! I want to be that kind of reverend! Rock on.
