Oooookay.
I saw Coraline today and it was awesome. Completely awesome. I saw it in 3D. Yay.
I recently watched: Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, which was cute. It would probably be close to a favorite, except I could do without a lot of the sex stuff.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.. I thought it was pretty good. Mostly there were a lot of great shots that I'm still thinking about, a week later.

Uhh. I keep hearing great, great things about Man on Wire. I think it's also available to watch instantly on Netflix, fyi.
Oh- I recently watched All The President's Men. I really enjoyed it. I saw Elephant, which was just okay.

From Brian's blog:
- The team makes its covert plans for the high-wire walk years in advance, their reconnoitering becoming a kind of unspoken portent to those other plans that precede that other fateful morning decades in the future.
- And then there is the briefly displayed telephoto shot, from the ground looking up, of the high-wire act: we see the towers, the wire, Philippe, and a commercial airplaine passing high above him.
Fascinating. I'd never even heard about this. I love the parallelism... literally.
And by the end of the film, you might find yourself hoping to become so foolish as to live your own life beyond your own boundaries of comfort and safety.
Sounds like how I felt reading Into the Wild...

Well, I'm 26. There's a lot of old movies I haven't seen. So shoot me. I didn't even consider watching movies a good use of time until I dated a guy who was obsessed with film. Then I was able to appreciate it.
and YES ROBERT REDFORD IS A HUNK OF A MAN. My mom always told me she had a crush on him back in the day and I said "ew, why?" so when I watched All The President's Men I had to admit to my mom that she had great taste.
No worries, Margot. I have no life, which is why I watch so many movies. Sitting on my desk, from Netflix, is A Clockwork Orange, waiting to be watched. Maybe tomorrow.

Clockwork Orange - that's one of those movies you're going to wish you hadn't seen. At least it was for me.

We'll see. Is it on the same level as Trainspotting?

Okay. Marcus and the first five minutes of Clockwork Orange have convinced me I'm going to pass.

So was Paul Newman, by the way. As such what could be more perfect than 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid'?

Butch and Sundance are the best.
Good choice, Meghan.

Okay. Marcus and the first five minutes of Clockwork Orange have convinced me I'm going to pass. Why? Because it was bad or because of the violence? I haven't seen the movie but I read the book and it was pretty excellent. It touches some core questions of Christianity (suffering and evil in combination with free will). The violence in the book is pretty brutal and excessive. But it has to be that way otherwise the author wouldn't be able to make his point. So was it the violence or Kubrick that turned you off?

oh!! Maybe I'll read the book.
Well, the first couple scenes weren't bad, but when it came to the group rape, I wasn't sure where it was going, or if it would cut off, and I just couldn't take it. Unfortunately, I'm pretty desensitized to violence, but rape is not something I can handle visually.

Unfortunately, I'm pretty desensitized to violence, but rape is not something I can handle visually. It took me two "go's" to read it. The author created some sort of youth slang that annoyed me the first time I took the book into my hands a couple of years ago. When I rediscovered the book a couple of months back from today, I thought I might give it another chance and be more patient. I think it was worth it.
