Not sure I really want to jump into the middle of this one but.....
I can totally see and relate to both sides here.
On the one hand, I think a little friendly ribbing is not only ok, but it can actually even be helpful sometimes in breaking down tense situations and showing a little humanity. Like Kirby said, Palin herself showed up on SNL to join in the mocking of herself. I thought that was very big of her and showed that she did have a sense of humor and acknowledged that people knew where her political weaknesses were and was not insecure about it. I respected her for that. I think she would probably have laughed at Margot's statement quite truthfully.
On the other hand, poor Palin got way more than her fair share of unfair and mean ridicule, so I can see why people could be a little sensitive to that. I remember hearing one audio clip (which I think was posted on MSN if I'm not mistaken) of a radio station that called her up at her office posing as the PM of France (or something) as a prank. They really had her going, making her try to remain politically correct and friendly while the imposter said some pretty outrageous things to entrap her. I know many thought it was funny, but I just thought it was very mean-spirited and over the line. At that point, I remember thinking enough is enough, leave the poor woman alone!
In general, I think everyone here would agree that it's never ok to slander someone's name or intentionally spread false rumors about them, Christian or not.
It seems to me that Margot adequately clarified that her statement wasn't intended to be an attack on Palin.
BTW, I would only eat pureed bananas if they were in a milkshake.
