The real Sayid would never have said he was a "good man"...

Or the old Sayid wouldn't have said that. Maybe the new Sayid can say that because his slate has been wiped clean.

Any chance smokie could appear to Sayid in Shannon form?

Matthew 4:8-9
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. "All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me."
Smokie to Sayid.

Oh Sayid. I'm so disappointed. I guess we can cross him off the list.

So I noticed in Moritz's last supper pictures that Kate was sitting in the place of Judas. In this episode she was clearly not "converted" to the bad side. Perhaps she will be the one that upsets Smokie's plan?

The progression, the spectrum of people who are following Smoky is The Fall in TV form: some have taken the deal, some are living in anger, some just don't know.
Josh, the mountain top quote is exactly what they were writing in there -- no way it could be a mistake.
Jack had better decide quick, before more fall. The spirit of Jacob is needed to hold the island together, to keep the balance on the scale.

"All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me."Smokie to Sayid. --This was also the first thing I thought of when he said this, Josh. What IS the island coming to? First Sayid goes off his nut, (or so it appears...), then Kate is sucked into the marchers following Smokie (a march which, BTW, reminded me a lot of Orcs.) Poor Kate --maybe she got a little weird after spending a few too many moments hanging over Claire's prison pit. Poor Sawyer if he ever comes back and finds everyone swinging from the rafters. Poor us because we have to wait a whole other week for further developments.

Oh Sayid. I'm so disappointed. I guess we can cross him off the list. I wouldn't give up on him just now. Don't you remember: "It only ends once, anything that happens before that... is just progress." Jacob has a plan (the woman who came to his aid seems to know the plan). After all it was Jacob who ordered to bring Sayid to the temple. Sayids Journey is not over yet. When comparing Matthew 4 to the Smokie-Sayid scene we must also keep in mind, that Sayid is not yearning for wealth and power. He gives in for the prospect of love. At least that's one way to look at it. I for one am still expecting some good things from him. The real Sayid would never have said he was a "good man"... I agree with that though. The question is: will he be able to "reclaim" himself? He can't exit like that, that's fo shizzl.

Lots of Egyptian symbolism...Locke/Smokie=Moses leading Isreal out of Egypt?

True- it's a somewhat better motivation. But the problem is that Smokie can't really deliver on his promise. He seems to be only able to bring back a shade or copy of a lost loved one. Kinda reminds me of the line from Dante:
Following false copies of the good, that no sincere fulfilment of their promise make.

then Kate is sucked into the marchers following Smokie I don't think Kate was sucked into anything. I think she is still trying to figure out what the heck is going on, but I am farely certain she has not fallen into their mindset. My question is, why wasn't she sucked in? Is it because the smoke monster can't change people's minds, only smoke Locke's words can?

Jack is going to be "chosen" to take over the island, but he is going to give it to Ben to take care of. Ben has always fought for the good of the island. And I've thought for a long time that Ben was going to end up being a good guy. I think that is starting to come to fruition! I really hope this doesn't end like Twin Peaks. What a disappointment that would be.

I like how it seems to be heading for Ben.
But I'm still scratching my head about why he's not following smokie after killing Jacob. They never really explained why he went over to the "other camp"
I still hold out hope for Sayid and all the main characters.

Lots of Egyptian symbolism...Locke/Smokie=Moses leading Isreal out of Egypt? True- it's a somewhat better motivation. And let’s keep in mind that despite having enough good reasons to turn his back on the temple crew he did as he was told. The way things played out, who wants to blame him for switching teams? The temple people tried to kill him more than once and apparently sent him on a suicide mission (I just realized: Arab on a suicide mission?? Oops!). But the problem is that Smokie can't really deliver on his promise. He seems to be only able to bring back a shade or copy of a lost loved one. How do you know that? The ghosts he embodied were fake, that’s true. But that doesn’t mean he hasn’t got powers beyond that, or did I miss something? I don't think Kate was sucked into anything. I think she is still trying to figure out what the heck is going on, but I am farely certain she has not fallen into their mindset. My question is, why wasn't she sucked in? Is it because the smoke monster can't change people's minds, only smoke Locke's words can? I think that apart from Claire (and possibly Sayid) nobody was sucked in. The people from the temple were presented with a choice and so was Sawyer. Sayid and Claire were “claimed” but Sayid still seemed to be presented with a choice. Kate obviously didn’t choose, she stumbled into this situation. And Smokie didn’t seem too happy about her sudden appearance. Kate = Eve = trouble ;D I really hope this doesn't end like Twin Peaks. What a disappointment that would be. What would a Twin Peaks ending look like in LOST? (never seen Twin Peaks) As for Ben: his speech on John’s grave indicated repentance. Let’s see what happens. Ben is “like a box o’ chocolates”… And speaking of chocolates: what about Hugo? Isn’t he the only one on the entire island with a heart of gold? But I'm still scratching my head about why he's not following smokie after killing Jacob. They never really explained why he went over to the "other camp" Well, he did realize that he had been used and didn’t seem to like it. Stranger is the question of why Smokie didn’t kill him and Iliana (spell? Was that even her name??) and Frank and all the others that didn’t come with him or that he left behind. If he wants everybody on the island dead (as Jacob’s followers keep insisting), why did he spare them? And why didn’t he just ask Claire to just break the ash-circle in front of the temple. And…?? ?? ??

I keep waiting for Miles to get killed, but he yet remains. Hasn't he long outlived his relevance on the show?
