2/22/06:
For now, I just want to recommend some great reading on this subject:
Where is God when it Hurts? Philip Yancey A well-written, story-laden look at the subject
A Grief Observed C.S. Lewis Lewis' very personal journal entries following his wife's death from cancer
The Problem of Pain C.S. Lewis A highly academic but insightful and broad look at the subject (even the issue of animal pain).

Another book worth reading is:
When God Doesn't Make Sense by James Dobson
It's more recent than the others, but along the same lines.

Pilgrims Regress, By C.S. Lewis

The Shack, by William P. Young
Anything by George Macdonald
The Left Behind series, by Lahaye and Jenkins (Just kidding) ;D

Robin, Just checking, are these recommended readings on the "problem of pain" (it wasn't clear from the title) Your list has so many books I know do touch on the problem of pain, I can't tell if you were intending that or not

My mistake. I was wondering why "recommended reading" wasn't under Soundings, but now I see why. I did not read the entire subject title.

Well, it's amazing how many have to do with the subject, though. At least these three: The Great divorce, C.S. Lewis The Shack, by William P. Young Anything by George Macdonald

Oh, and the Left Behind books too. Wait, I guess that would just be suffering on the part of the reader!!! Sorry to any fans. Just my personal opinion.
