I love passages that talk about Abraham and his relationship with GOd. I so long for that level with the Lord. To be called his friend. I especially like vs 21 where it talks about Abraham being "fully pursuaded that God had tpower to do what he had promised" and that this is what was credited to him as reighteousness. I often wonder what it would be like to have a faith like that. Yes I know Abraham had some questionable faith moments, but in the sum up, He has become the example of a man who walked by faith. For myself, I seem to catch moments of that faith, but I would love to develop consistancy in that.

I also am struck my both Abraham's humanity (being in some ways just like us) and his amazing trust and faith.

I feel the same way, Sarah. I think one of the most amazing moments of faith is when he was willing to sacrifice his son. Talk about the most heartbreaking decision of one's life. Not being a parent I can only imagine the devastation that could bring and I doubt I could have the same kind of faith. But he was rewarded by his faithfulness.
When I think about this story and how it parallels God sacrificing His Son, I wonder to myself, how is God rewarded for His faithfulness? All He gets out of it (and I'm speaking generally and include myself in this generalization) is a bunch of sinners who will never be "good enough" to be in His company and often times forgets He is waiting for them. It never ceases to amaze me that although He wants us 100% of the time, He will take whatever we give Him. What an amazing God we have!!
