So, folks, what's your favorite book of the Bible and why?
(I'll grant you 2 or 3 if necessary)

Hmmm, this won't be a surprise to anyone! Isaiah is easily my favorite with Hebrews and 2 Corinthians following closely behind.
I love Isaiah because I see so much of who God is as a "person" in this book, and it so clearly speaks to me. This book speaks to me about who I am in him and what his heart for me is. It also doesn't hurt that it is so beautifully written!
I like Hebrews because all of the gospel is contained there. You could only read Hebrews and come up with a fairly solid base for your faith.
2 Corinthians is where I have gone for a long time when I am discouraged and need comforting. I love the rise and fall of this book, the reminders of the eternal, and the practical applications.

What??? Sarah, you like Isaiah??? I had nooooo idea. Well, I haven't read them all yet, but I really like James. I like how straight forward it is and how James just puts it all out there. I also really like Amos just cause you never hear anything about Amos and I like to give it up to the underdogs!

OK, I'm breaking the one book rule too:
Old Testament: probably Zechariah because it has some of the coolest prophecies of Christ (and Isaiah)
Gospels: Luke, because it's the most Greek-minded/ apologetic Gospel
Rest of the New Testament: 1 and 2 Timothy because of their incredible pastoral insight and Hebrews because it's like a mini- New Testament (like Sarah said)

Don't you love looking back on old responses and discovering what is different and what is still the same? I love how our life experiences can change our lenses.
My "new" favorite book is Ecclesiastes and has been for the past couple of years. For me, it is an unusually comforting book. I love the directness and the lack of sugar coating. S*!& happens. Sometimes life sucks. Sometimes life feels fantastically unfair. How can good things happen to bad people and bad things to good? I love the honesty in the frustration of the unfairness in the world.

Wow. Not a lot of people list Ecclesiastes as their favorite. That's awesome, and I agree!

John. I am not exactly certain why but, he speaks to me more than other authors. When I have preached from John's writings I find insights that seem so fit for the common man, regarding all kinds of pertinent information for our times. I have memorized things from John's writings more than other portions of Scripture. To write a gospel, his short but, sharp epistles, and Revelation - quite a swath of material. Looking forward to meeting him someday, by God's grace.
