I have more agreement with you than not, but a question: what support would you give for your statement that a "Holy God cannot be in the presence of sin?"
Also, I would add that Jesus' atoning work on our behalf isn't only (or even primarily, I'd argue) about what happens to us when we die. Evangelicals have often been so focused on the afterlife that they have missed the very real implications of Jesus' death and resurrection for our lives now- for individuals and all of humanity.
