Last night Erik and I and the Kings went to see a showing of the new Rich Mullins Bio Pic Ragamuffin I was super impressed. It was almost completely free of the typical Christian movie cringe factor and was super timely for me personally. I'd highly recommend it (it's released on DVD in May), and I'll definitely be adding it to the Aletheia library. The director, David Shultz, was there for Q and A afterword, which was really instructive. But for this thread, I'm curious how many of you were Rich Mullins fans? If you were, what did you appreciate about him? Favorite songs? Memories about him and/or his music?

For me, Rich Mullins reminds me mostly of my relationship with Steve Kunselman, and countless times around the piano or driving around in the car, in that golden age of my first real spring of faith. Steve was always pushing me to sing Keith Green, Steve Camp, and Rich Mullins songs at church, even when I was concerned some of them might not be good conservative church material (or be particularly suited for my vocal range ) But he could always talk me into it with enough persistence. We even did the pretty obscure Mullins song "The Breaks" once.
I've never been super enthused by Rich's most popular songs. I thought it was funny in the movie how there was a scene where he started off a concert with "Awesome God" by saying "let's get this over with" My favorite Rich Mullins songs were the more subtle and/or profound ones:
The Love of God If I Stand The Color Green Calling Out Your Name Creed 52:10 Promenade Brother's Keeper Damascus Road Peace The Land of My Sojourn, etc..
