The first trailer is up for the second Hobbit installment:
Thoughts? What do you think looks promising? What looks potentially lame?

I'm not happy with the way this series is going. I found great pleasure in the journey that is The Hobbit. I was really disappointed that the first movie basically became just another action flick.
That said, I found the same disappointment in the trailers for the second move.... until I saw it in the theater last night. And I have to admit, I found myself wanting to watch the movie! So there's that.
Basically. I would have liked it if he had just stuck to the story of The Hobbit and had done the other companion stories in another set of movies. The way the author did.

Well, I've seen it twice now. My two biggest complaints are the same as the first: theatrical action sequences that are just too unbelievable to thoroughly enjoy, and some skimping on parts I wish they would have indulged (like Beorn and Mirkwood)
But, there were things I liked, like starting with a scene in Bree, Beorn and his house, the spiders, Thranduil, Bard (at least the actor), Smaug's voice, etc...

Just got the extended edition. As with the other films, I think the story works a lot better and adheres closer to the book with the extra scenes. Beorn especially is more fleshed out.
