12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
An elaboration on Paul's list of clothing from the NIB commentary:
Compassion and Kindness Deep and heartfelt sympathy for situations of others and active consideration for others interests and needs. Bearing others burdens. Humility The ability to count others better than oneself based on a proper sense of self-worth and not simply weakness of character. Gentleness Courtesy, considerateness, and a willing to waive one’s rights rather than to be concerned for personal gain in one’s relations with others. Patience and Forgiveness The ability to not become frustrated and enraged but to make allowances for others’ shortcomings and to tolerate their exasperating behavior. Forgiving others as you have been forgiven.
I love how Paul emphasized that we put on Love above and over all this other clothing, like a giant parka, because love should be the first thing that others see when they see us and it is the thing which ultimately gives warmth to our other clothing.
