Don't even really know how to phrase the question, but I'm looking for a passage in the New Testament where the author (Paul probably) is recounting an Old Testament story (I believe related to the Exodus or wilderness wandering) and he simply uses "Jesus" or "Christ" interchangeably with God in recounting the story. Anyone know what I'm talking about and where it is?
All my searches are leading me nowhere.

I kept doing searches for "bodies dropped in the desert" but for some reason I wasn't finding it.
