London and many cities in the UK are in horrid distress due to very violent rioting and arson. Any thoughts? Is this the result of a people to dependent on a welfare state pushing back against necessary austerity cuts? Did this begin as a peaceful protest that hulligans high jacked? Does the Cameron Govt bare any responsibility for it getting this far out of control?

That just goes to show how far beyond on the news I am in the summer- this is the first I've heard of this. I get my NPR on on my commute from school during the school year.

There is potential for this to get even worse. I heard last night that some opposition groups were going to take to the streets to confront the rioters, and looters. It's amazing how quickly this fire has spread.
