I'm looking for a good book on Roman history. It just seems like Rome is so often talked about and I don't feel like I have a good picture of the history as a whole.
I would really prefer a CD audio book to listen to while traveling to and from work but anything will work as long as it's not so boring I can't bring myself to pick it up.
I've looked on Amazon and our library Web site but don't even know what I'm looking for so it seems a bit overwhelming.
-Thanks!

Hey Alex I think I might have just the thing for you- it's the History of Ancient Rome taught by a professor on CD (it's part of the Barnes and Noble Portable Professor Series). When will I see you next?

I have a audio book called "the histories" by Tacitus. It is an 8 disc series, and have seven of the CD's. For some reason I can't find the fourth CD. You are welcome to what I have, and I will continue to look for the lost CD.
If you do borrow them, I would like to have them back when you're done.

I'd love to borrow both! Thanks guys. I should be at church Sunday, though there is a small possibility we will stay in Corvallis Saturday night and then miss church, but I'm not in any big rush, I've got plenty to read.

The founding of Rome goes back to the very early days of civilization. It is so old, it is today known as 'the eternal city'. The Romans believed that their city was founded in the year 753 BC. Modern historians though believe it was the year 625 BC.
