What follows are a series of mysterious documents delivered by Brian (aka Jacob from Lost) to the Aletheites. Their apparently esoteric meaning has yet to be deciphered even after numerous attempts.
I will post each of the three documents and include all known information on each, including our failed attempts to decode them.

The first two documents (pictures below) were delivered under suspicious circumstances to Mr. Joshua Coles on Thursday May 27th at 2:45 PM in the Bridgeport REI parking lot. They were enclosed in a folder adorned with a jingle bell: The second document came with instructions via email- the group that went backpacking was supposed to come to a consensus on the issues. A consensus was reached on some of the items and our choices were underlined in purple. The rest of the items still need to be agreed upon, so we can use this thread to do so. Attempts to decipher these documents have centered on making something of the seemingly random words underlined by Brian himself in Exhibit #1, as well as certain letters that appear to have been bolded by Pen in the same document. We have also attempted to find hidden messages only legible with sunlight shining through. To no avail.

These documents were then followed up by a mysterious package that appeared on the doorstep of the Coles a few days after the trip, also attached with a jingle bell*, contain a small scrap of paper with the following written on it: * We were told today by Jac.... I mean, Brian, that the bells were significant.

cryptic deliberately mysterious or ambiguous and seeming to have a hidden meaning?
or
enigmatic having a quality of mystery and ambiguity that makes it difficult to understand or interpret?

A few days ago another strange addition to the mystery:
A trowel showed up on our front doorstep with a black piece of paper attached with no visible writing on it.
The mystery deepens.....
Is there a freemason connection? I note the "brick vs. mortar" above and the original poem seems a big freemasonish.

Brian- it is crucial to have all of the this vs. that's answered one way or another?

Hmmm.
Charles Spurgeon wrote tracts called the "Sword and Trowel" and apparently one of them contain a discussion about alphabet poems, and several contain references to bells.
Am I on to something at all here?

I met a wise old man at a little red shack today who gave me a tip: look inside the handle of the trowel. And lo and behold, inside was the next 6 letters of the alphabet!
