I listened to Beck for a while every week about a year or two ago. Got kind of tired of him. Not that I really disagree with him, but I think he doesn't actually know what he's talking about, and he really started going a bit... wacky. All he does is hint about the coming revolution and the apocalypse.
Anyway, in response to, or because of his recent comments that have a lot of people talking:
There is no 'Social' Gospel, the Gospel itself is all we should need. We don't need to go around tacking some political clarification to it in order to make it acceptable or relevant, we simply need to live by the Gospel: Love the Lord your God... Love your neighbor as you love yourself...

A confession here, and I'm not saying that this is necessarily a good thing, but I find it really hard to intellectually respect a Latter Day Saint. However, I have often had moral respect for them.

Is that what he is? That makes more sense.

Glen Beck Supports slavery www.jackandjillpolitics.com/2009/09/constitutional-scholar-glenn-beck-pro-slavery-idiot-or-both-p2/ Basically he was ranting without cause as is his custom always in the afternoon. When he started magically interpreting the constitution as only he can. There is an no longer used passage that bans charging more than 10 dollars for the importation of slaves. Glenn Beck interpreted that to mean that the founding fathers believed it was OK to "ask of immigrants." then he ranted about how we cannot ask immigrants to do anything anymore. I love Glenn Beck, he is so stupid, that he was able to describe positively the most negative and sickly part of the constitution, specifically the authorization of the importation of slaves. There are only two possibilities. 1st, Glenn Beck is a racist, who believes that enslaving people and importing them to this country was a good thing. IF this is true, then no one should listen to his racist disgusting blather. 2nd more likely, he is an uneducated moron, who did not even pass 7th grade social studies, in which case again, full grown adults, should no use him as a primary new source, or even less so for secondary opinions.

Kevin, I doubt that you've invested any more than thirty seconds to truly understand what Beck believes. And reading liberal blogs and leftist articles doesn't count. How many of his books have you read? How often do you listen to him on the radio, or watch his TV show? Perhaps you should call his radio show and challenge him just to prove how stupid he is. I doubt that you have the courage. This is nothing more than you slandering yet another person with whom you disagree.
By the way, when you make statements like "Glenn supports slavery", or "he is a racist" people will simply tune you out. But this is somewhat typical for liberals. You cant argue on substance so you try to intimidate people by labeling them racist. The hate that is seeping out of the left for Beck only goes to prove that he is in fact very influential in todays political landscape, and the left just can't stand it. People tune out hate and seek substance. This is why no one watches MSNBC or CNN, and Fox News more than doubles their combined ratings. It is also why Air America is now bankrupt, and conservative talk continues to dominate the airways (including Glenn Beck).

look up the episode I site. The point is he used a provision of the Constitution which provided for taxing of slaves brought to the New World. Then Mr. Beck moved on. He essentially turned that terrible time in our history into a terrible joke. He has no constitutional scholarship in his shows. I would say that Beck is either truly someone who supports slavery OR he does not think before he says what he had planned for the day. In any case. He is moron. That is not slander, I accused him of being a racist because he said he supported a part of the Constitution that allows for slavery. I would call that quite racist.

You did not site an episode, you sited a blog which refereed to a passage in his book "Arguing with Idiots"! I suggest you read the book, or at least understand what he said in context before commenting. If you do think that there is a so called episode that would prove your claim then provide the audio link or video that supports your claim. The burden of proof is on you, not me. You made the accusation, now back it up with something besides a left wing blog from mediamatters (extreme left wing organization aimed at silencing conservatives on the radio). Your hate is blinding you. You appear to be willing to believe anything negative about those with whom you disagree. I doubt that you actually heard Glenn say the things that you claim, and that you heard him in context. Like I said, I don't think you ever invested any time in reading what he writes, listening to his radio show, or watching him on TV.
If Glenn is a racist who supports slavery, then explain this video.
Why would these intelligent successful black people support a man who, as you say, supports slavery? Do you know Glenn better than they do?

I'm officially asking you to take it down several notches. This is supposed to be a safe place for dialogue.

The truth of the matter is that ALL main stream media is control ed by the ruling elite. Glen Beck (Fox News) is no exception. satan gave Eve some truth in the garden but he mixed a lie in with it. We need to look at the source of our information before we decide to trust it or not.

We need to look at the source of our information before we decide to trust it or not. I largely agree with you, although media has changed significantly in the last decade due to the Internet. A little know website called Dudgereport almost single handedly brought down a presidency. Breitbart.com is largely responsible for the closing of ACORN. The Internet is forcing the main stream media to report on stories that they would rather leave alone. Dan Rather reported a made up story about President Bush and his service in the Air National Guard. 20 years ago he would have gotten away with it but today we are able to research and check out whether our media is fairly reporting or not. In large part this has hurt the liberal media and helped center-right media like Fox News.
