I formally request the all postings under the title "the Passing of the honorable Senator Ted Kennedy" be moved to this new thread. Maybe this will get some people to chime in. Attachments:

Really? Those are the only options? I am going to have to refrain from voting if that is all we get.

Yeah I am not used to using the Poll tool, lets do write ins and tally it. I was going to include Al Gore, King Henry VIII, Calvin, Kant, Lock, Newton, and last but not least Gwinnett Button (Georgia's first signer of the Constitution)

Ted's brother John was a whole lot greater, and Robert for that matter.

I disagree. JFK was all about Potential, most of the programs he advocated for he never got to see through, he was murdered first. Who is to say that without LBJ's absolutely RUTHLESS Senate Tactics that many of JFK's accomplishments would have been unrealized. RFK, same situation. Senator Kennedy though is a story of Redemption. A centamillionaire playboy who could have wasted his life. Who ran for the Senate because that is what his family wanted him to do. Instead of screwing around like some lesser senators (I am looking at you former Oregon Senator and food tycoon Gordon Smith) He dedicated over 40 years of his life to trying to improve the quality of life for the average and least advantaged Americans. It is the redemptive quality of his story that makes his the most powerful in my opinion. The last shall be first.

do you know what happened at Chappaquidick (sp?) 40 years ago? Not an example of the greatest human being. I dug his politics, though.

Yes I am aware of that Chappaquidick. THAT IS WHAT I MEANT BY A REDEMPTION STORY. He screwed up royally on that Island, but he has ever sense tried to live a good and decent life and help everyone he could. It is a story of redemption and is inspiring. Think of it as the Apostle Paul who oversaw the slaughter and persecution of thousands of Christians only to redeem himself.

Ted Kennedy was a Socialist in the highest order. If he had any other name than Kennedy I think we would consider him rather unremarkable. By the way krhagan19, did you really include Al Gore on your list? Why?

I put Al Gore on the list to annoy the few true neocons on this site who do not believe in Global Climate change. As far as being a socialist of the highest order. Jesus seemed to dicipleship and serving your fellow citizens, remember he said that it was easier for an ass to pass through the eye of a needle than for the rich merchant (Roman equivelent of Capitalist executive) to come into the Kingdom of Heaven.
