I see the right to be well as a fundamental human right within a civilized society, much like the right to be educated. As a society for example we will spend up to seven times as much on a special needs students need to be educated as we will on an average student. Education is merely the path to economic and social prosperity. How much more fundemental is a persons right to exist. I believe that universal healthcare in some from, be it government sponsored, or government subsidized private insurance with no prexisting condition exclusion criterion as a fundenmental human right in a civilized society. The United States is the only industrialized nation in the entire world to have uninsured citizens. Not only that but we have 46 million of them. This is a disgrace to our civilization. We must provide for the basic preventive care medical and dental needs of these citizens otherwise we risk being clasified with the Republic of Congo or the Republic of Euretria when it come to the well being of citizens.
