edition.cnn.com/2008/TECH/09/08/lhc.collider/index.htmlEverytime I read about this project I can't help but drifting away thinking. What happens in the micro cosmos when we perform such experiments? We'll create small black holes that will collaps as fast as they came into being. Isn't that fascinating? We'll create black holes we won't ever know of. maybe we'll create a miniature universe. And while this miniature universe collapses within a short amount of human time, maybe it will be aeons of years in the perception of little creatures that emerged within this miniature universe. Maybe they'll worship us, the creators of their universe. Maybe they think we listen to their prayers while we are not even aware that they exist. Maybe this is how our universe was created too. What do we actually know? On a different note such experiments remind me of the Titanic, of the tower of Babel or the Tay Rail Bridge. We humans seem to think we can do everything, despise every risk. Bring nature to it's knees. We dig deeper and deeper and maybe we'll break the camel's back soon. Just a few random thoughts.

Fascinating article that leaves you hanging (not to mention that this would make a great movie plot) Though your mention of creatures does make me think about the question of the "origin of life" (aka life from non-life) which I don't think we've ever made the rounds on. There's already a good thread going on that: Problems With Naturalism: the Origin of Life

What? ? You don't know Dr. Seuss? Are you joking? Horton hears a who? One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish? Cat in the hat? The grinch who stole Christmas? Star bellied sneeches? Green eggs and ham? You mean this isn't standard childhood fare around the world? I'm shocked....you guys are living in the literary third-world. (that explains a lot ) Now we have something to discuss about what should be in public education. ;D
