A movie by David D'Sabatino (of Lonnie Frisbee: Hippie Preacher fame) on the life of Larry Norman has recently been completed. It looks like it's going to be intense. Here's a clip on facebook (you have to have an account to view it) that makes me really impatient to see this thing: www.facebook.com/pages/Fallen-Angel-The-Outlaw-Larry-Norman/36214859625#/video/video.php?v=57319211202D'Sabatino is going to be addressing, as he did in Frisbee, the good and the bad, the complexities of the enigmatic Larry Norman. It's already causing some controversy, but it looks really well done and I'm glad someone is going to address the multiple angles on his life. Chris, I thought you'd find this especially interesting. Log in as Denice to watch it!

Looks intriguing. Can't wait to see it. I like DiSabatini's style (from what little I know of it) of looking at a person's life from all angles, yet doing so respectfully.
There can be no doubt you'll be the first on your block to own it. ;D

That looks pretty fly. That last shot is classic.

So, I've been doing some more research about the video. Turns out there's a lot more skeletons in Larry's closet than I never knew.
What I did know was that some things had happened in the past between Larry and Randy Stonehill/ Daniel Amos, etc.. that had created a rift. But it turns out those things were pretty serious (adultery) and cast Larry in a pretty bad light- especially since he apparently never really owned up to them.
There are also rumors that he fathered a son out of wedlock that he never recognized.
Apparently this video is going to turn out to be a lot like Frisbee. I'm really saddened by all this because I've followed Larry so closely over the years, I love his music, I saw him many times, talked with him a couple times, even went to his funeral.
Mike Roe and Terry Taylor from the Lost Dogs are in the video (Mike's the guy with the sunglasses) as well as Randy Stonehill, all of whom I had a lot of respect for. And apparently they have some hard truths to explain about Larry's past.
Dang. Can't a person have a couple heroes?
"...none is good, save one, that is, God."
Luke 18:19
8"But you are not to be called 'Rabbi,' for you have only one Master and you are all brothers. 9And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10Nor are you to be called 'teacher,' for you have one Teacher, the Christ. 11The greatest among you will be your servant.
Matthew 23:8-11

"Dang. Can't a person have a couple heroes?"
Ain't that the truth. What a sad disappointment. I wonder if he ever reconciled any of this before the end? It looks like he must have come to some kind of peace with the Daniel Amos boys since he released Horrendous Disc a few years ago. He tried to justify it, but I couldn't really see where he was coming from.

I await in fear and trembling.
Maybe we could watch it on a Tuesday night at Bridge House?

Laine and I just finished it. You are welcome to it anytime. I will bring it tomorrow. I was very touched to the film. Though some things about Larry trouble me, I find his music to be even more touching now. Let talk more in person after you have seen it.

No, not yet. We were hoping to watch it with Nate or others, but he couldn't do it last night so I thought I'd wait a bit. Plus, I wasn't really in the mood yet last night

I knew it would be. I'm not sure all of the criticisms were fair, but over all I thought it was well done. Feel free to pass it on o anyone else who is interested in watching it. You can also add it to the church library.
