OK, so I have to say though I've recently ventured into the world of "facebook" I don't really get what all the hype is.
What do folks actually use it for?
Why would I want to know all the minor details of what all those people are doing 24/7?
And the whole non-linear way it's set up kinda bugs me too (maybe i'm just not familiar enough with it)
I guess it's good for reconnecting with people you've lost touch with, but I guess I fell much more at home on the discussion forums side of things where there are actually sustained dialouges about ideas, etc..
Thoughts on facebook?

It isn't a message board, and it isn't really supposed to replace a message board. I think it's worth checking every couple of days, and it's usually interesting to look through photos when you're bored. Give it ten minutes a week at most.

I like it because I can keep up with friends/family all over the world. It's good enough for that.

Turns out I'm addicted even though I'm still not sure if I like it. Who's idea was this anyway???
I guess some of you warned me.

Ah, yes, Josh, the slippery slope...that's how it starts... Listen up, old people: I have a 19 year old daughter and I'LL tell you what Facebook is for. Apparently no one uses e-mail anymore unless they are over the ripe old age of--say--28. Facebook is the place for spreading news, leaving messages, getting together with your people, etc. No one e-mails or posts and the best use of a phone is apparently for texting. (I'm thinking it would save a LOT of money to just bring back the carrier pidgeon but no one listens to me... ) ---Geez! I sound like my parents!

I heard about Facebook a few months back and signed up in order to give my pastor some positive feedback (in Mcminnville). Now three months later, I find myself checking it daily. The daily thing started during the snowstorm and I was homebound with two boys and desperate for some adult interaction. Now that I am back at work this week, I am not on it all of the time, but it has been fun to catch up with old friends. It is strange when people ask youto be their friend and you barely remember them or don't even know them. If feels mean t ignore them, yet I don't really want strangers being able to look at my facebook page. It is much easier than e-mail for sure.
