When I said in the ER last Sunday that they thought my chest "looked' alrighton Sunday that's because they only used a stethescope despite the fact that I told them I was wheezing.
Anyway, flash forward to Tuesday night- I start vomiting. That was an awful nice- every symptom I've had going full bore. By the morning there was no question I was going in.
Went to the doctor yesterday at 6:00. I stayed 4 hours and they did all sorts of tests. It was the worst I've ever looked at the doctors' I think even they were a bit scared for me.
Chest ex-rays revelaed I do have pneumonia. I was put on IV ligquids and an antibiolitic right then and there at the office.
Then I was sent home with some other medications and had some of thebest rest I've had in 9 days.
Throughout the night, thought I did (as well as this morning) wake up with a very biting cough). The doctors says I should feel some definite improvoement after about 24 hours of antibiolitics.
I feel like I already have felt some improvement- but then again- how many of us with H1N1 have thought that before.
Amy- I'm so sorry for you. If your cough is in any way unusual make sure you have the doctors do an ex-ray, okay?

Well no cough for me just a tiny bit of congestion left over from the cold that started all this to begin with. For me it has been mostly flu stuff. This stuff is crazy I tell ya, I am glad that you finally got some answers as to what you have and now have medication to help get you better.
So I have been fever free again since early Wednesday morning I need to keep this trend up so I can go to church on Sunday I miss it to much. Not to mention I have a kiddo who is more than excited about Halloween on Saturday.
Josh feel better take advantage of being able to sleep and get some good rest.

Chest ex-rays revelaed I do have pneumonia. Pneumonia next to the flu? Isn't that dangerous?? You got me worried, boy. You better get well soon, otherwise I'll be angry with you.

It's really too bad to know that this has been so difficult. I was fortunate enough to get tamaflu within 24 hours, and was felling full strength after about three days. Tamaflu only works if you take it withing 24 hours of the onset of symptoms. I'm praying for you.

Glad to hear that, Robin. I wish the original ER visit I had made would have been more helfpul in catching at least the pneumonia part earlier.
Here's my status: last I night I slept quite a bit better/ the lungs/ cough are showing good improvement. I'm still extremely weak (like walking up and down the stair is a minor committment) and have very little appetite (largely due to the antibiotics now). I've pretty much lived on water, juice, applesauce, and an occasional bite of toast for several days.
This is now day 12 for me. I hope I don't sound melodromatic to anyone, but there were a couple of instances (especially earlier this week) in which I was very concerned that I might not make it. The one thing that I could rarely turn of during this whole time has been my thoughts (some helpful, consoling, some dark, brooding, nightmares even), but I've just been clinging on to Jesus and my wonderful wife.
I can already see some things I've learned through this. I can't wait to get back to the land of the living. Just to enjoy the simple things even!

Josh~ I am glad that your atleast getting better, the sad thing is its going to take you a week or two or more to get the strength back. I have to say I dont blame you for all the thoughts you have thought about when your really sick like that your mind can do crazy things. Hang in there the light is getting closer for you and before you know it you will be better and enjoying the simple things again!! Rest and Fluids are the two best things for you. Sadly my mom was telling me that at the funeral home where she works there was a guy there who was 28 and died of this horrible flu that just makes me sad to know that its taking lives of people that young. . . Ok sorry im sure that was way to depressing but, we can all be thankful that we are still around. . .

Josh, I've been there--twice--(see my post on Iron Sharpens Iron) and all my sympathies are with you--you are NOT melodramatic, it's pretty horrible. Please, please, GO SLOWLY, ok? The recovery takes a good, long time, but if you take your time and do it right, it will really pay off. I can't emphasize enough that you can't rush this. Take as much time as you can off work. (And I would say that even if Paul WEREN"T subbing All our prayers!!
