So, for the most part, I've always been pretty dispassionate about politics- you can probably tell by how little I treated on it here on the forums. My general approach has been, as a Christian and a pastor, to engage in politics only as far as it seems to directly impinge on faith. I am far more passionate about the other-wordly kingdom of God than I am about the gray and sordid world of human government, whose values are so often diametrically opposite to the Kingdom values taught by Jesus.
That said, I find more and more in this current political environment that it's impossible to take my faith seriously without chiming in more and more on certain issues, ones that I believe have direct bearing on Christian witness.
If you perused by facebook feed you would find far more "left"-leaning content (secular and Christian) than not. But that's only a slice of my life. Many of my family and some of my friends solidly represent what many refer to as "the right", and I'm concerned about how to proceed in dialogue with them. Especially how to do it in love but also with conviction.
In fact, I think those of us that care about articulating our faith must to learn to do this, and quick! The country is dangerously divided, but so is the church.
I'd love to have people from all political perspectives join in- (anti-Trump, Trump shruggers, Trump supporters, etc..)
Anyone interested in doing this well (by that I mean respectfully) here on the Aletheia forums?
