The United States: Privileges and Pitfalls

It being the 4th of July weekend and all, I thought I'd invite folks to share a twofold opinion:

From your perspective, what is the United State's greatest privilege and what is it's greatest pitfall?

Privileges: what does the U.S. have to be most thankful for and to take advantage of for good?

Pitfalls: what is America's greatest weakness? What does it need to turn away from?

In many ways I think the answer to both is: financial success

For Christian Americans:

Privilege: Lack of Persecution

Pitfall: Christianity is too comfortably settled into the larger culture
