Anyone know much about the Golden Compass? All I've had time to glean is that it's the first of a trilogy of fantasy books by somebody Pullman, who, especially despising C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia, set out to write a fantasy trilogy with atheist sentiments. The climax of the series is supposedly "the death of God"
And now it's going to be a movie.
Also, I learned that, ironically, the trailer for Prince Caspian (the second movie of Lewis' Chronicles) may be showing at the Golden Compass!

All I know is that I keep getting e-mail forwards from my female relatives about how this movie is anti-God.

Ahhh, the infamous Christian chain-mail phenomenon.
Oh, and look up! There are the ads.

The Golden Compass books are very anti God. The Golden Compass Movies have replaced God with the Imperium, so pseudo religious organization similiar to the Catholic church of Old. So it is more anti organized religion and forced conversion than it is any particular Christian sentiment.
