Break Free© 2007 Marc PeterIt’s Friday, and you’re on my mind Living just outside of space and time Delusions of grandeur—it’s a prop, you see On this tragic stage where we live and breathe We’re spinning; we’re spinning out of our minds All the filth we’ve seen has blackened our souls We’ve taken things that were meant for joy And we’ve made them to be our gods I’m carving graven images in the sand Making tiny hieroglyphs with my hand The ocean’s peaceful even when it’s fierce It reminds me that I’m a stranger here We’re spinning; we’re spinning out of our minds All the filth we’ve seen has blackened our souls We’ve taken things that were meant for joy And we’ve made them to be our gods Break free Break free and run Break free Break free and run "Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:1-2 ESV) |

The pic and the poem are great. Just imagine if we could physically see all the weights upon us, "every little god on a gilded wheel" like Steve Taylor said, perhaps we would be more enclined to break free and run.
