Yes, back to the disciplining of the churches!!! I have no idea why, but I really like Paul when he is mad at the churches.
If Paul believes he was set apart at birth (v 15), was he a Calvinist??
I love when Paul talks about his "former life". It must have been so hard for him getting past the guilt he felt for persecuting Christians before he became one. And what a great testimony to the power of Christ to turn someone from being a "destroyer" of Christianity to one of the biggest advocates for it.

1/6/06: I found a good timeline of Paul's letters (not primarily a timeline of Paul's life), which I think is good to keep in mind (that whole chronological thing again). Galatians is probably the earliest book of Paul's that we have in the New Testament (or possibly 1 and 2 Thessalonians), following shortly after by the books we have already read: the Corinthian epistles and Romans cranfordville.com/NT-Paul.html

Thanks, Josh. That really helps to put things into perspective. It would explain why there is so much passion in Galatians and 1 Corinthians. It makes sense that his earlier letters would reflect the zeal that comes along with being a new Christian and the later letters would reflect a more mature, holistic Christian. I will never understand why the Bible is not in chronological order (especially the books written by the same author), but I guess I just have to deal with it.

I think it's so hilarious how fiery Paul is in his early letters and how pastoral and fatherly he is in the later ones. Again, I am reminded of the pervasively human nature of Scripture.
