I was always Goliath when I had to dress as a Bible character.
My fave costume ever was when I was 6 or 7. I got a mask of a generic Astronaut, my mom made me a space suit out of an old sheet, my dad let me put medals and insignia from his old army uniform on it. It was awesome.

oh, and BTW, I just realized who the Steve is you are talking about. My favorite was when he came as Jonah. You would have been in 5th grade. Remember that?

Did he have vomit on him or something? Or a fish trailing behind?

it was a giant cardboard fish, all you could see were his feet.

That's right. I wonder if it was the "lost coin" recycled.

One year (5th or 6th grade) I dressed as a bum and wore my dad's old jacket from Vietnam that said "When I die I'll go to heaven because all all this time I've been in hell". wow. I wonder how that was okayed.
We had a full-on bunny suit that my brother wore for a few years, and then I wore. My brother also had a homemade full body ET costume that my grandma made for him.

I know I went out every Halloween but, darned if I can remember any favorite costumes. However, the year that my roommates and I went to a college party dressed as crayons...(yeah, well it wasn't MY idea, ) I met the girl with my favorite Halloween costume EVER. She wore a long dark brown robe, like a monk, with a hood over her head. Her face was covered, except for a pair of big black sunglasses. She wandered around the party the whole night, using a cane and never talking to anyone. Yup, that's right, folks: she was a BLIND DATE!! (Still cracks me up after all these years...)

As a youngster I loved the monkey suit my mom made for me. It was worn several years and eventually passed down to my brothers. We would eat a banana as a prop. I was also Raggedy Ann (from Raggedy Ann and Andy) and loved that too! Especially since mom would paint my face to look like her. My favorite costume of all time was Alex dressing up as Dr. Strangelove. He was a hit at work with those who knew of that cult classic. He rented a chair, had the glasses and did the whole hand routine. It was great! Here's Alex as 'the living statue' a couple of years ago. Attachments:

I used to dress up as a cheerleader (Skirt, make-up, and all), wearing my sisters outfit. This was when I was much thinner of course. This year Cameron and Cory decided they wanted to do the same, so Laine pulled out her high school cheerleaders outfits, and they tried them on. They seem a little tight, but they'll work.

I have rarely dressed for Halloween, but when I was about 7 I had a Yoda costume - which was okay, but really just a cheap plastic suit.
My favorite was a Zorro costume I put together about 8 years ago. It was complete with a replica sword from the Zorro movies that starred Antonio Banderas.
Last year I went as Indiana Jones, but people thought I was dressed rather normal so few people noticed.

So my folks compiled over the years a huge wooden chest full of dress up clothes. Each year my sister and I would create our costume out of things in the dress up box. When I was in the 8-11 year range my folks let me ride my pony from house to house so all the costumes were equestrian themed. I best remember being Pipi Longstockings, although I remember being a pony riding princess and a mounted unit nurse on other occasions!

...so that would be Monglette, Hunnette and Cossackette I wish I could've been Yoda when I was little, sadly I was born too late. The ears make the costume. Now that I think about it, I guess there's still time...
