I had the chance to celebrate Easter at an Eastern Orthodox Chruch (St John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Beaverton, Oregon). Their Easter is a week later than ours. It was a midnight service and lasted for hours. We went on a processional (through the parking lot in major Eastern Cities the processional goes for blocks around the Church) and then they did their entire 2.5 hour communion liturgy. Then they passed out an orange hard boiled Easter Egg that everyone ate. Then there was a great blessing. Finally a Massive feast at about 3:45 Sunday Morning. AMAZINGLY ENOUGH, they had another Easter Service scheduled for 7:30 AM that same day. (No sleep for their priest).

Why is Eastern Orthodox Easter a week later?
