Some more from me ol' journals
March 17, 2001
St. Patrick’s Day. Phil Keaggy concert. Thank you Lord for the life of St. Patrick, for making the nights less dark and driving the serpents away. Thank you for Your strong, warm voice rolling on through the ages, at times thundering as a waterfall and at others times trickling in a parched desert. Thank you for art and for music which is a strange other way of knowing, feeling, and experiencing- teaching me to trust You. Thank you for pouring excellence into Phil and drawing it out as humility and sincerity.

It’s funny how beauty lifts the mind to the possibility of the supernatural. It shakes up encrusted doubts- rather, it brings doubt to doubts, a sort of routing the enemy.

Olympic Coast: God was saying to us, “Let desire lead you to me no matter what the circumstances might say.”

...I remembered then the feeling of golf courses at night and dark trails tread upon while my heart was on fire...

It’s one thing to notice some upsetting thing in another's life; it is entirely different to confront someone with honesty and the aim of building him up. Sometimes it is critical to intervene when people make choices that have horrendously destructive potential. If you don’t say something, it is quite possible that no one will no matter how much you ‘pray’.

More than ever, I am feeling the weight of a pastor and I am seeing my inadequacies. But God is gracious.

I do long for heaven.
