"Then the Spirit carried me away. The LORD's power had taken complete control of me, and I was both annoyed and angry." Ezekiel 3:14
I love the honesty and transperancy that Ezekiel speaks with. This is making me think of the 2 Cor. 9:7 "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." I've always heard this verse associated with tithing, but it just dawned on me that money is not the only thing that we give. We give our time and our spiritual gifts for the Lord and we are supposed to cheerfully give those as well. That can be soooo hard sometimes.
In this case, Ezekiel has every "right" to be annoyed. He has to do this God given task for people that God has said will not listen to him. I'd probably be annoyed too. But while the Israelites might not listen, perhaps a traveller will see what he is doing and it will affect him. Just like with service. Those that we are directly serving might not be as affected as those that see that we are serving. I know that when I see stories on the news (as rarely as they have them) of kindness and compassion I'm typically much more moved than when someone tells me to be kind and compassionate. It's quite representative to me of how Jesus' love is so much better expressed in actions than in words.
