A good article on Christian unity from a Catholic author/ apologist/ philosopher I respect, Peter Kreeft. Chris, I think you might appreciate this one: Toward Reuniting the Church

I like it. That pretty much expresses my view as well. God creates unity, not us. I dare say though that the majority of the RCC leadership would not follow Kreeft in this. This statement is pretty huge: This is directly contrary to the Catholic stance that tradition is equally as authoritative as scripture. To the degree that Catholics can embrace the notions expressed in this article, there is unity. But I don't think the RCC as an institution would ever embrace it, nor can they. They've painted themselves in a corner by the many "authoritative" councils and articles of anathemas over the centuries that exclude Protestants (which, by the way, seems like a Catholic pejorative itself). Thanks for posting the article though. It does give some hope. It is encouraging to see that God is indeed working unity in the true Body of Christ.

If you need some more encouragement from those even higher up the food chain in the RC world, check out this juicy little tidbit from NT Wright's latest book "Surprised by Hope" (can you tell he's milking the comparison with Lewis?: Mere Christianity/ Simply Christian, Surprised by Joy/ Surprised by Hope?) Look over at the Purgatory thread.
