I'm just finishing NT Wright's newest book, Simply Christian. It's kind of a Mere Christianity for the 21st Century. It's quite refreshing- summarizing again the foundations of our faith and then providing remarkably insightful and inspiring exhortation in regard to what the whole point of the Church actually is.
The Church is where heaven and earth meet- the firstfruit of what God will eventually bring about in all the earth.
This has profound implications, which he drives home. Maybe I'll have more time later to comment on this (I'm sure it will come out in our teaching/ discussion in the coming months).
You’ve got your methods
I’m done with trying to guess all your moves
I’m going where you want me to go
I’ve got nothing left to lose
Now I don’t wanna suffer
But that’s in fact the nature of the beast
If you want to get to higher ground
You got to get there on your knees
