Ah, Peter. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
In Acts 4, the high council were questioning Peter and Paul about healing a crippled beggar. The priests ask, "By what power, or in whose name, have you done this?" (verse 7). I love the way that Peter, "filled with the Holy Spirit", starts his answer. "Rulers and elders of our people, are we being questioned today because we've done a good deed for a crippled man? Do you want to know how he was healed?" (verse 8) That sounds so much like something Jesus would say, doesn't it? Peter and Paul clearly said that they healed in the name of Jesus (see Acts 3:6) so I don't believe for a second that the council didn't know what Peter and Paul were doing and Whose name they were doing it in. This is such a similar encounter to the ones that we've seen in the gospels between Jesus and the Saducees, etc.
I think the reason it sounds so much like Jesus is that Peter was "filled with the Holy Spirit". Just think, when we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we too can sound like Jesus. I think that is an incredible thought.

That is cool. Reading this triggered a great connection with a verse in 1 Peter we'll be looking at before long:
1 Peter 4:11
If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.
I wonder if Peter was so impressed with the difference between speaking on his own accord and speaking in line with the spirit, that he just had to exhort us all to experience that too!
