8Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts
I really like the way that Jesus showed the teachers that He was God. Only God knows what is truly in our hearts and it seems like this would be something that would really shake them up.

Note how in Chapter 2 Jesus keeps challenging the Pharisee's view of the Law, and showing how He himself was always the point of the Law. Jesus comes to fulfill the Law, and, being fulfilled, it takes on new forms (see my comments on Matthew 5: Fulfilling the Law)

This is a Mark 1:30-Mark 2:12 post, but I don't know how to make a post span two boards. I always found it a little curious that Jesus told the man with leprosy to not tell anyone about being healed. The man disobeys Jesus and tells people and the result is that so many people flock to Jesus that he can't get any space to be alone. But instead of throwing his hands up in the air and saying "well, now things are ruined and I can't do my ministry how I was supposed to" (though clearly he knew how his ministry was supposed to unfold). In Mark 2:1-12 we read about him returning to Capernaum and preaching to a packed house and healing someone else. It was really awesome to see this parallel of how God works in our lives. He can tell us, "I want you to do this" and we disobey him. But he doesn't say, "well, you didn't do what I wanted you to so I have to give up that plan" he just course corrects. I love that even in our disobedience or ignorance and our determination to be on our own path, God is constantly connecting it to his path so that we can always get back to his path. GOD IS SO GOOD!!!!!

Yes indeed, Jesus is more than able to redeem our shortcomings, though it's probably a smoother transition and less painful to us when our failings come from good intentions as this guys seem to have been.

4Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on.
Question: what are you willing to do to a) seek out Jesus and b) help your friends find Him?
