Hello everyone,
I just wanted to officially announce that come January/February-ish we'll be starting a study on the Pentateuch (the first five books of the Old Testament). We'll be delving in to related topics such as:
The Inspiration of Scripture: What does it mean? The Historicity of the Old Testament Violence in the Old Testament The relationship (and relevance)of the Jewish law to New Testament Faith Literal or Symbolic Biblical Interpretation and many more
We did do an in-depth study of Genesis about 2 yrs. ago, so we'll actually be doing just a short summary of that book (1 or 2 weeks), and then we'll dive into Exodus.
These studies will be designed for believer, seeker, and skeptic alike, so all are invited. I think it will be a very equipping couple of months.
And for those of you who attend on Sunday, we'll be echoing our study on Tuesday by gleaning shorter, inspirational and/ or challenging lessons from the same text during that time period.
Please use this thread to add things you'd like to see covered/ addressed in the discussion of the Old Testament and/or the Pentateuch in particular.

I would like to discuss the treatment/view of women and how/why that changed? Is it just a cultural change? It seems to me that women were, basically, to do whatever her father or husband (whoever had "possession" of her at that time). How did that change? And is it a Biblical thing that it has changed? I know this may ruffle some feathers and cause some heated discussion since we have such strong women in the group, but I also think it's very important.

I've been trying to come up with a crafty response, but I'm at a loss!!
Can we also talk about how God wanted to destroy the Jews so many times? And why it took Moses to stop him.
