David or Elhanan?
I think I have an answer that suffices for me. But the problem is a curious one.

From what I've gathered, 2 Samuel 21:19 must be a copyist's error, because we are told specifically in 1 Chronicles 20:5 that Elhanan actually slew Goliath's brother. Apparently if you know the Hebrew, it's fairly obvious that it would have been an easy mistake for someone copying the book to have made.

I think that's my answer too, without even looking at the Greek.
Which is more likely to be in error?
Elhanan kills Goliath vs. Goliath's Brother ---or--- Elhanan kills Goliath vs. David kills Goliath
Logically, it is much more likely that there is an error in the translation if you are simply talking about who killed who's brother in a single line of Biblical text, versus getting an entire narrative about a specific event wrong from the beginning.
It is something important though, when it comes to the modern moves against Christianity. There are a lot of non-Christians who know about this, probably more than Christians. And the anti-Christian crowd uses stuff like this to make Christians look bad.
