This section of Judges (particularly chapter 19) is, I believe, one of the darkest passages of Scripture. Properly understood, it says a lot about sin and the human predicament. Misunderstood it is merely fodder for critics.
I hope to post my notes on the lesson tomorrow here, but if anyone has any questions, fire away!

I'd like to add that this whole passage can be very confusing from the angle of "what human actions in this story were condoned by God and which weren't".
In my current opinion, the only thing condoned by God was the selection of Judah to be the first to fight against Benjamin. I see all the other major decisions and oracles as against the will of God (the idolatry, abuse of the concubine, the raiding of the Danites, the "wives for the Benjamites 'solution'", etc..)
