I don't think Iron Sharpens Iron is the right place for this, but it's a current event, so here goes.
I want to encourage us all to remember to be praying for Christians around the world that are suffering for their beliefs. Some of you may have heard about the recent killings in Jos, Nigeria. If you haven't, a couple hundred people (mostly women and children...and I won't go into the graphic details that I read about) were slaughtered. It is believed that they are Christians and were killed by Muslims. Jos is a city that is part Christian part Muslim and there is a lot of unrest in that city on a regular basis; Christians killing Muslims, Muslims killing Christians. Please pray for peace in this area and the ability for the two groups to coexist.
Also, I feel especially inclined to pray for the hearts of those (on both sides) that have perpetrated violence. While we should always be praying for those that suffer, I think it is just as important to pray for those that inflice suffering. We should be praying for redemption. Let us pray that God's love would flood their souls and that they would see that there is another way.
